Why Userbrain is Different From Other Usability Testing Services

“You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.”– The Rolling Stones

People ask us about the difference between Userbrain and all the other usability testing services out there.

The answer is simple:

Userbrain helps you get what you need, instead of just giving you what you want.

We know that in the age of consumerism people love quick-fixes and that’s why all usability testing services are designed to fulfill exactly this demand.

We are not aware of any alternative to Userbrain that doesn’t promise fast and on-demand usability testing. Yet Userbrain doesn’t do it. Why?

Well, first of all, it’s because others are already doing it. But there’s another reason – one that’s even more decisive:

“Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.”– Stephen Covey

Usability testing can be used for two fundamentally different things:

  1. Fixing usability issues
  2. Driving your creative process

Many people don’t start usability testing before they realize that their product or service has some serious usability problems.

This reactive behavior results in an on-demand testing culture that hopes to fix errors as soon as possible.

We believe that fixing errors is important and everyone should do it. That said, we also believe that there’s an alternative, or at least an extension to this reactive, problem-focused, and on-demand testing.

We’d like to call it proactive usability testing.

What is proactive usability testing?

It’s testing without the urge to fix errors as soon as possible.

It’s about constantly testing (and improving) whatever you’re working on, while you’re working on it, whether you’re a website owner, designer or developer.

Proactive usability testing is about prevention, not about the instant cure.

It’s about habits, not about activities.

Why is proactive usability testing important?

Over the last 5 years of working with clients, we’ve learned that on-demand usability testing can be useful. But all to often it’s too time-consuming and too complicated to be done from anyone except some too expensive experts.

Userbrain is committed to providing a service for people who want to create great user experiences on their own, who are motivated to master & grow from usability testing themselves.

This way you not only fix usability errors, but drive your creative process with continuous feedback from real people.

We believe that proactive usability testing will not only yield better results, but make you a better designer in the long run.

Userbrain is very long-term focused, and we believe you’ll become really great at what you do if you regularly observe real people who are testing your designs, instead of just buying on-demand tests to give into the urge of reactive quick-fixes.

“For every thousand hacking at the leaves of evil, there is one striking at the root.”– Henry Thoreau

We hope that you’ll be one of the first who are striking at the root (drive your creative process), while others are still busy hacking leaves (fixing problems).
